Peachy Keen in Georgia
My husband and I headed to Savannah in late June to celebrate our 1st anniversary. Keep in mind that it gets sticky-hot in the middle of summer due to the heat waves that seem to be making a regular appearance across the U.S. - but, we still think it's an awfully neat place to hang out for a few days.
Similar to DC in the summer it's pretty much flooded with tourists, but despite the heat and the multitude of bodies that crowd you off of the sidewalks, it's full of that Southern charm that you always hear and read about.

As with most places we visit, one of our favorite pastimes is eating - and my goodness, there is no shortage of delicious places to sit and enjoy some air conditioning to beat the heat.
We tried a new place on this most recent visit (nothing overly fancy) called The Ordinary Pub - located at 217 1/2 Broughton St. They have a brunch menu that they serve daily and we partook of some Loaded Fritter Tots (think homemade tots) smothered in Gouda cheese with bacon and chives. They were very good, and quite filling too. This was followed up with a Chicken and Waffle Gyro. YUMMY - and highly recommended. Service was great and the atmosphere was casual and fun.
A really cool thing which we found impressive was when my husband ordered a Bloody Mary. Like most restaurants these days, they have all kinds to choose from, but what I really liked was the fact that they serve theirs with a pasta noodle straw. Think old-fashioned McDonald's straws (really large) that are now conveniently biodegradable - perfectly picturesque in a cocktail glass and great for people who both love their straws and are concerned about the environment!
Of course, as with most places we visit, I'm always inspired to begin new collections for my Zazzle stores. In fact, traveling has given me the idea to begin a new store on Zazzle called Americana_Musings. In time, I hope to develop collections for every state in the US! But, for now, we'll start with Georgia. I decided to work on something simple to begin with - the Georgia state fruit - PEACHES!
As you've probably heard me mention in prior blogs - one of our most popular items that we sell through our various stores on Zazzle.com are car mats. As such, we've got a beautiful set of car mats here:

Of course, we can't forget decor for your home or office either! We've got pillows, serving trays, blankets, and other practical but fun items to choose from - so, if you like peaches and want to show some Georgia pride, you've come to the right place!

But allow us to pose a question to you! Since we've begun our new collection with peaches - can you tell us where we can find the very best peach cobbler in Savannah? We don't eat peaches on a regular basis but if there is one thing that we absolutely love, it's going to be some warm peach cobbler with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream! While we've managed to find many other delicious desserts throughout Savannah - we've yet to discover that elusive perfect bowl of peach cobbler. So, let us hear from you!
Meanwhile, we'll continue working on our Georgia Collection - and yes, we know there's more going for the state than just peaches. Remember, it's just our starting point. Be sure to check our collection for more products in the near future.
And don't forget our home store - Artistic_Musings. You're sure to find some great gift ideas throughout!
Happy shopping!
